I am a international expert in research/MEL and scientific advisor on gender and SRHR. Among other projects, I am currently serving as Scientific & Technical Advisor to the WHO Human Reproduction Programme (HRP Research) and as Senior Gender Expert & Multi-Country Coordinator for a gender assessment of social protection systems across five Sahel countries, for the UN.
With a PhD in Social and Political Sciences and over 20 years of field-based research across Africa, and the Sahel in particular, I work at the intersection of rigorous academic methodology and real-world programme delivery. I design and lead complex multi-country research and evaluation studies - qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods - that turn data into actionable evidence for decision-making, policy, and programme improvement.
My thematic expertise spans several areas: sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender-based violence and FGM/C, child marriage, child protection, social protection and the empowerment of women and girls. I have worked as Team Leader, Principal Investigator and Senior Gender Expert for UN agencies (WHO, UNICEF, WFP, UN Women), bilateral donors (FCDO, GIZ, Enabel), EU institutions and academic institutions including the University of Reading, University of Oxford, Laval University, and the University of Liège where I currently teach.
Born and raised in West Africa, fluent in French, English and Mooré, I conduct research from the inside. I bring 20+ years of direct fieldwork in fragile and conflict-affected environments, deep familiarity with the communities and institutions where the work takes place, and the cultural and contextual intelligence and nuances. I have led teams of over 10 experts and 70 data collectors, navigated high-risk security environments, and presented findings in 25 countries.
I believe rigorous evidence, generated with integrity and grounded in lived realities, is one of the most powerful tools for social change. That conviction drives everything I do and the type of projects I choose to work on.
